I would like to do this hike over 3 days with my 4 sons (ages 11 to 35) this summer towards the end of July. Can you recommend a trail map or offer any other advice like places to camp along the way?

    Thank you for the inspiration.

Hi, liked your post wow 32 miles in one day, years ago my late husband & I did week long backpacks from the Boulder lake entrance and did 32 miles in a week!!! Anyway we purchased a lot in Boulder lake, and he has now passed away and I haven’t been back there in 25 years or more, but I sure loved the Wind River Range. This year my two sisters and I are doing the 1/2 marathon in Lander on the 4th of July, we are all over 60 and hope to walk a 1/2 in all 50 statess, Lander will be #11. Anyway, I wanted to find a great day hike to do in the Wind River, maybe beside a creek and to a high lake, where would be the best place to to this, I will be in Boulder Lake then head south to Lander, so thought the South Pass area might be good. Any ideas on trail heads would be great.
    Happy hiking Ann

Great blog! What a fun adventure. I’m heading to do it in the next week or two.

John (who posted on August 19) – have you done it yet? I am wondering if you would want to go opposite directions to facilitate the car shuttle. My team can go either direction. Let me know if you’re interested!

My great friend and I are doing this in two weeks and have read many stories on the winds but yours is most inspirational

Great blog and sight, love it. Spent several trips in the winds on the pinedale side. One year we hiked down to long lake and floated up the lake with two man rafts then hiked to upper long and floated up it. Spent the next four days going to Suicide and Gorge Lake. Take care and be safe,

Shelli! Just blundered across this on a google search…and here I was feeling tough because I made it up to sheep bridge and back this afternoon. This hike is on my life-list, too…but I want to to the other direction, and maybe continue on all the way to Pinedale. I’ll keep you posted.

Epic hike and excellent documentation of it! I might be up for something similar next year. Looks spectacular.

Hey you don’t know me, but we have Holly as a common FB friend. Found a link to your Winds blog on her page. Just wanted to say your blog & video are very inspiring! I had always heard that the Winds looked a lot like the Sierras (where we live) – but it’s uncanny! I think we’ll take the family there someday. Awesome video.

You Rock! The picture with the wildflowers is fantastic! You have helped me experience something I have never completed, but have heard about growing up. Keep up the good work! When you’re down our way, let me know! Would love to see you!

    Hi Holly,

Love your blog and love the video. Now I can see why you do what you do but doubt I could ever make the same treck. It’s wonderful that you know all the names of the mountain peaks!

    Congratulations to all of you….

    Love you so,
    JoAnn and Jim
